First off, happy new year! I hope you rang in the new year with style...or if you're a parent that you at least got to wear some comfy pjs and sip a cocktail. There are some new and exciting things coming to Wool Pickle this year and I'm just tickled to be able to share them with you. Tomorrow I'll be introducing you to my theme for January and providing some little sneak peeks into my knitting basket for the month. I do hope to see you and some new faces (bring a friend, perhaps?) as the new year unfolds.
While you're here, how about those matching earwarmers? They have a little bit of everything I love; they are squishy soft, have a pop of color, some vintage-style granny squares, and a bit of gathering up front. I just love them.
The inspiration for these came just in the nick of time since just as I was putting the finishing touches on them it began to snow! Now baby and I have the perfect winter accessories to keep ourselves warm in the winter wonderland outside. Have I mentioned that the baby doesn't hate them? This is a glorious achievement for this fiber enthusiastic mama.
I would love to share this pattern with you all when I get a bit of time to write one out, but I'm having two dilemmas. For one, I used two (modified) granny squares from a book I own and didn't feel right posting a pattern that wasn't wholly my own. I'll need to come up with two new granny squares in the correct dimensions that are completely my design. The second reason I haven't shared this little pattern is that the yarn I used is one that seems to only be available during certain times of year at certain German grocery stores. Very obscure! It's called Maremma and it's extremely soft and squishy. So far I haven't been able to find a readily available alternative that works up in just the same way. And what good would this pattern do any of you if you couldn't purchase the yarn I'm using or know what a good alternative is? It wouldn't do you any good. Alas, I've got a couple of tasks in front of me before I can get this pattern out. But aren't they lovely? Matching mother daughter sets are too sweet. Be still my heart.
